What lies behind President Obama's Coarse Treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Nation of Israel?
What lies behind President Obama's Coarse Treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Nation of Israel? Ken Garrison investigates what may be coming in the months ahead.
This week has seen the whole country focused on the implementation of the new healthcare bill just signed by President Obama. I suspect that the focus on this domestic issue has overshadowed what is perhaps a more important international development.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Netanyahu, was in Washington this week. There is a growing disagreement between the Obama administration and Israel over the issue of building in Jerusalem. At an AIPAC conference on Monday, Mr. Netanyahu declared that Jerusalem was not a settlement but the capital of Israel. Due to pressure from Mr. Obama, the Prime Minister had previously agreed to a 10 month freeze of construction in Judea and Samaria; however, he never agreed to that construction freeze applying to Jerusalem. This confrontation has been manufactured by the Obama administration – it is not clear why.
On of my favorite columnist is Charles Krauthammer who writes for the Washington Post. Mr. Krauthammer believes that the president is acting to “heal the breach between Christianity and Islam” or what he sees as the “post-imperial west” and the Muslim world. This makes sense to me because it reflects Mr. Obama’s life experience. He was born a Moslem and grew up (the early years) as a Moslem. He supposedly became a Christian somewhere along the way; however, at least 20 years of his Christian experience was spent under the teaching of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright in Chicago. The church led by Reverend Wright honors men like Louis Farrakhan who is the leader of the black Nation of Islam movement in the U.S. So, Mr. Obama’s life experience tells us that he has maintained one foot in Islam and the other in militant Black Christianity which is very nearly the same thing.
One characteristic that Mr. Obama exhibits that is typical of Islam is hatred of Israel. This has been evident since he assumed power as president. It was evident in his speech to the Moslem nation in Cairo last year. This hatred appears to have escalated more recently.
Now let’s ask ourselves, what are the implications of this developing situation? One of the most disturbing pictures portrayed in Bible Prophecy is the prediction that in the end -time, all nations will join forces to attack Israel (See Joel 3 and Zechariah 12). John (Revelation 9:16) foresaw a 200,000,000 man army crossing the Euphrates on its way to attack Israel. Traditionally, prophecy experts have told us that China was the only nation that could field such an army. There is an alternative to China. In light of what is happening today, I believe that this army is made up of the combined forces of the Islamic nation which represent something of the order of 1.5 billion people. Islam has both the resources and the motivation to lead this predicted assault on Israel.
A question that has always troubled me is, “how could the U.S. participate in such an attack on Israel. Yet, the Bible is very specific in declaring that all nations will be involved. Now with President Obama serving as Commander-in-Chief, it seems apparent how it could happen.
The boldest support for Israel today in the U.S. comes from Evangelical Christians. In order for the president to join the Moslem nations in an assault against Israel, the voice of Bible-believing Christians will have to be suppressed. To accomplish this, not only will the “hated” Israeli settlers be vilified, Evangelical Christians will also be vilified. Hollywood and traditional media sources will enthusiastically join is such an endeavor.
So let me raise the flag in warning. I believe that we who love Israel and support her will soon be portrayed as “enemies of peace” right along with the settler’s of Judea and Samaria in Israel today. This will occur just as this nation is being led down the path to an awesome judgment of the nations also predicted in the Bible. The God of Israel will defend His people.
