When viewed from an incorrect perspective, the Flood can play into the Gnostic view that The "God of the Old Testament" was harsh and without mercy. However, through the Flood, as well as the confusion of languages at Babel, the mercy of God -- the same God as the One revealed in the Messianic Scriptures (New Testament) -- is revealed as He takes steps to limit evil in the world. Viewed from a correct perspective, we can see these events as intervention to stop man from destroying himself under satanic influence and allow time for God's plan of Redemption to unfold. At some point in the future, God promises to intervene again: with the advent of Messiah and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth. This week's Tzemach Institute Bible program looks at the "mark of the beast" written about by the Apostle John. We look at popular notions of the concept as well as more Biblically rooted concepts. (click here for dialup).
But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men (Matthew 15.9/Isaiah 29.13)
One clear instance of this prophesy may be seen in Christianity's abandonment of the Biblical festivals outlined in Leviticus 23 for the Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter.
This week's Tzemach Institute program coincides with the Seventh Month Biblical festivals of Trumpets, Yom Kippor and Sukkot. The program looks at the prophetic significance of the Biblical festivals in the God of Israel's plan of Redemption as well as the lack of significance of the Christian holidays that were arbitrarily chosen by the "Church Fathers".
